About Me & My Experience

I started my business in the winter of 2015 with a single, small pantech truck. I was newly married and looking to start a family. For the first 4 years I ran my business solo out of this truck. I was busy, I enjoyed it, and I managed to score work that I would have never dreamed of. As varied and enjoyable as this work was, it was not scalable, and I wanted more.

The first four years saw me doing a huge mix of work in a wide variety of industries. Including; mixed general freight, custom furniture and retail deliveries, manufacturing and logistics subcontracting, commercial fitouts and building suppliers, sensitive freight (scientific equipment), VIP Transport (Fleetwood Mac and Madonna World Tour Sydney Leg stops), Confidential and Highly Sensitive Freight, Charity and Government Departments, Events and Trade Show logistics, waste management and more.

Fast forward to 2019, I had one child, one on the way and this is where the growth of the business really accelerated. In the following 18 months the business went from me as a solo operator doing around $150,000 per year with one truck, to a team with 6 trucks doing over $1,000,000 per year.

By 2021, life was hectic! 6 trucks, 14 main clients we serviced weekly, plus additional ad hoc clients each week too. Juggling this whilst being a husband and father of 2 young kids was no walk in the park!

This is also the time Covid hit, and it hit hard! Over the course of 18 months, we lost 70% of our revenue for a period of 9 months due to government lockdowns and restrictions. Wages were still paid on time, insurance, registrations, fuel, etc. Inevitably the decision was made to close the business in 2023 and liquidate.

I have lived through so many wins, challenges and loses, all whilst trying to raise a family. Business ownership is one of the hardest endeavours we humans can take on. Sometimes its a marathon, other times it’s a sprint, all whilst being pulled in all directions, keeping a hundred plates spinning and being told to “work on the business, not in the business”. It is hard!

So how did I more than 5X my business with all of this going on?

It was through a specific strategy, choosing the right clients, the right work, building a solid foundation with room to take on the extra work where I wanted to. Now I work with owners and business leaders to help reach their growth goals, in an efficient and streamlined way using my frameworks and strategies that are tested and proven.

My Approach

Collaboration is key. It allows us to work together towards the common goal which is for you to reach your goals!

Think of it like a sports team. Take a rugby team, a head coach has a team of coaches underneath them with a variety of specialties. Forwards, backs, kicking, line outs, scrums, etc. You get the idea.

You are the Head Coach, ultimately all decisions are yours. I am you coach for game plan and strategy. I work with you to implement strategies and processes to help you achieve your goals. It may be that you and your business have all the right elements, you just need someone to look at your business through a different perspective to see how you can redeploy your assets in a more efficient and profitable way.

There is a huge difference between busyness and efficiency. Often as business owners we can get caught up with busyness, never really focusing on efficiency. Without planning to, we can become the bottle necks. We know the business better than any of our employees and we can find it easier and faster to just do it ourselves. This is where burnout and overwhelm can creep in, especially in a growth phase.

Why I Do This Work

In my own business journey, I have had many people that helped me along the way. They have worked with me through my challenges, let me ask the hard questions and given me the hard answers when I needed them, celebrated my wins and supported me. I learned many things the hard way so by offering my experience to others my hope is that you can learn these lessons with less pain, to get to the wins faster and do it without the stress and burnout that can come from doing it all yourself.
